It’s not just a book trailer. It is a piece of me, filled with the passion I have for what I do!
The long hours of editing to find just the right moments to transition to a photo or slow down a video clip so that it fits with the tempo of the music.
Placing the right words, the right photos, the right video to match the lyrics and messages of the song and the book.
Watching my furry friends play and listening to one of my all time favorite songs made the editing process enjoyable.
Identifying the song for the video was immediate. The song Different Colours – One People by Lucky Dube encompasses strong messages of understanding and love for one another which are also strong messages seen throughout the first book in the Living the Beach Life Series. A perfect mix of like mindedness in the creative world. Thank you for allowing me to use the song INgrooves.
The creative whims of a writer, an animal lover, a music lover.

It was always fun to watch Lion Paw our beach dog and Oliver the Vervet monkey play. In the quiet mornings they chased each other up and down the beach. Of course the downfall was when they would hop on the lounge chairs reintroducing the sand we had just spent the time brushing off before guests arrived on the beach. Preparing for the day was always a longer process with these two little ones out and about. Priceless!

My Tuesday Trivia posts will be back next week. As the Island grows, we are experiencing a bit of growing pains. They translate to not having internet or electricity at certain times for various reasons beyond my control.
A large truck got caught on our lines outside of our home, not once, twice. Gone went the electricity and gone went the internet. Not one, but yes, two storms came our way within a week’s time. Prepping for Hurricane Season really should happen in June, but we were hopeful the storms would stay at bay until September as they have the past few years. Preparing and organizing for those storms took precedence over my weekly posts. I am back now and share with you a Friday Fun Fact and Photo featuring Oliver the Vervet Monkey from the Living the Beach Life Series.

I always love visiting schools and libraries. Reading to children is so much fun. I love their questions and responses to the books I write. Here are just a few of the drawings some of the children gave to me after one of my first readings.

I enjoyed raising Oliver, but this is the best outcome for any orphaned monkey. It is not always possible to do this, but it worked in this instance. Such a beautiful story! Click on the photo below to see the full video of the babies adoption day.

Oliver came to our home for a little while back in 2010. He was sick and needed extra care. Here is Elmo our adopted dog interacting with Oliver.

Writing Wilbur the Beach Pig Remember When happened very quickly. Putting the pictures together was another story. I had quite a few of my own, but I needed more to do the story justice. Most of the time when Wilbur was doing his thing I was too busy making sure he did not knock over anything while sauntering around or leading him so he would not disturb anyone. I asked others to share pictures of Wilbur with me that I could use for the book. I am thankful for those that shared.
One picture I could not get from anyone or from my own photos was the garbage knocked over. I had to recreate it. Who takes pictures of garbage knocked over? ME! I DO.
So in the midst of a busy day, garbage absolutely chock block a full, I knocked it over. The utter shock factor from guests on the beach was humorous to say the least. The reactions when I started photographing the garbage were hilarious.
I learned a lesson in humility that day. Trying to explain to people that I was using the photos for a book I was writing was ridiculous. I think many thought I was a crazy girl taking pictures of garbage.
Here’s to the photoshoot of the garbage!

You got it right! Thirteen pictures of garbage. I only bored you with three.
Wish I had gotten video and photos of peoples reactions. Priceless!
Enjoy your weekend. Who knows maybe you will be taking a crazy person photo shoot of garbage. Try explaining that one to people!
